Closing the Bones -Ritual
About this Class
Birth, change, or new beginnings – A ritual for returning to your own center
Welcome to this wonderful ritual. Fechamento de parto is a ritual for bringing the bones and organs together on a physical level and closing your energy field on a mental and spiritual level. It supports you in regaining your strength in life after giving birth, or serves as a way to bring other profound phases and processes of life to a close. The ritual is also known as the “Closing the Bones Ritual.”
The origins of the Closing Ritual
“O Fechamento” (the closing) is a profound, transformative ritual. It originated in Mexico. Traditional Mexican midwives celebrate this ritual to support new mothers in regaining their strength and returning to their center after giving birth. It involves the physical and spiritual closing of the body. During childbirth, a woman’s body opens and expands.
A traditional Mexican midwife once described the process figuratively: “During childbirth, one wall of the woman’s temple—her body—is torn down. It takes up to 40 days (the duration of the postpartum period) for her temple to be rebuilt or regenerated. ‘Fechamento de Parto’ can be a great support during this time.”
Many women who have not experienced this ritual feel for years after giving birth to a child that they have never truly regained their strength since then. The Closing Ritual can be a great support for women. On a physical level, the bone structure is brought together using woven cloths (rebozo). The organs, which made room for the baby during pregnancy, also return to their place through a supportive massage. Traditionally, the ritual takes place 10, 30, and 40 days after birth. However, not many women know about the ritual, or they only hear about it years later. But it is never too late, and the ritual can be done at any time.
Reconnecting with body, soul, and strength in every situation
These days, the Closing the Bones Ritual is also used at other moments in life, not just after childbirth. Perhaps there are other doors in your life that need to be closed. A phase of life is coming to an end; perhaps you are making radical changes to your life, a relationship is ending, you are quitting your job, you want to move to another city or country, or something similar. This ritual can also support you in bringing these phases of life to a close. Of course, this applies to everyone, not just women.
We tailor the “Fechamento” specifically to your needs. It is helpful for you to contact me personally. We can meet or talk on the phone and discuss the process together, so that it suits you best.
An overview of what to expect during the ritual:
We prepare the ritual space together and light the fire
You share which phase of life may be brought to a close
You can invite important people whom you would like to accompany you through this transformation to the ritual beforehand. That is up to you.
You will be massaged
You will have a bath with herbs of your choice
If you wish, you will be wrapped in blankets and can sweat
Your body will be closed on every level with rebozo cloths
If you read about this ritual and it touches your heart, follow its call and get in touch with us. Be aware that you will only truly understand its meaning once you experience it. This is because, especially with rituals, we only understand their deep value during and after the ritual.

Reviews
WildNet.Earth Review Policy
Each rating result ranges from 1 to 10. The overall rating for a class is calculated by adding up all the ratings submitted and dividing them by the number of ratings. We use a weighted system: more recent ratings have a greater influence on the overall result.
Participants can also submit sub-ratings for important class areas – such as organizer communication, class management, content & learning progress, procedure & implementation, venue, catering, and accommodation. Sub-ratings and overall ratings are assigned independently of each other and are not necessarily directly related.
