The Human-Nature Quest – Wilderness Retreat in Norway
Highlights
A few impressions to give you a feel for this class.
About this Course
The Human-Nature Quest is a 7-day wilderness retreat in Norway. It invites you to a personal discovery journey in a nomadic wilderness camp. Far from everyday distractions, you live outdoors in a small group, reconnect with nature and create space for personal development and self-awareness.
Guided by two experienced mentors, the retreat combines wilderness living, nature-based practices, reflection, silence, physical challenges, rest and shared rituals. Nature becomes both the setting and a mirror for exploring two fundamental questions: Who am I? And what is my gift to the world?
The aim is not simply to escape everyday life, but to return with greater clarity about what matters to you, renewed energy and trust in your own path.

Pause and reconnect
We leave behind the noise and distractions of everyday life and spend our days outdoors in the Norwegian wilderness. Time in nature, simplicity and silence offer space to notice what matters to you and listen to your inner voice.
Live in the wilderness
We move between campsites during the week, setting up weatherproof tarps and sleeping outdoors. Camp life includes finding places to sleep, building shelters, collecting water for drinking and cooking, gathering firewood, lighting and tending a campfire, and cooking over the fire. Participants organise camp life collectively and take an active part.
Explore two questions
The journey centres on two questions:
Who am I, and what is my human nature?
What can I do, and what is my gift to the world I live in?
We use nature as a mirror while exploring these questions and your relationship with the wider living world.
Reflect and share
The programme combines reflection, nature-based practices, physical challenges, rest, sharings and joint rituals. At different times, you work individually, in pairs or as a group, under personal guidance from the team.
Bring the experience into life
The retreat is framed by two online events upfront and afterwards. An online one-to-one intake session is there to help you ease into the retreat. After the week, you will be invited to an online group gathering with the facilitators to help you integrate the experience into everyday life.
Structure
The retreat runs over seven days as a nomadic wilderness camp, with six nights outdoors under weatherproof tarps. We meet at the listed railway station or bus stop and travel together by taxi to the first camp. During the week, we move to new campsites several times; the route depends on the situation and dynamics of the group. On departure day, we take down the final camp and return by taxi to the starting point in the morning.
The programme alternates between individual time, paired and group activities, reflection, nature-based practices, physical challenges, rest and shared rituals. An online one-to-one intake session takes place before the retreat, and an online group gathering with the facilitators follows afterwards.
Prerequisites
No previous wilderness experience, special skills or athletic fitness are required. You need, however, to be willing to embark on an extraordinary experience in nature and to be able to move independently through rough terrain.
Active participation in camp life is part of the experience. You should be prepared to spend 7 days outdoors, live simply, cooperate with others and engage openly with the experiential and reflective parts of the programme.
Packing List
Bring personal outdoor clothing suitable for the northern climate, including hiking boots, warm woollen clothing and rainwear. You will also need a three-season sleeping bag and a trekking rucksack for your personal belongings. We provide a detailed equipment list after booking or on request.
Board & Overnight
We spend six nights outdoors, sleeping under weatherproof tarps and moving between campsites. We provide group equipment for the wilderness camp, including sleeping mats and, when needed, mosquito nets.
Full board is included, with mostly organic, locally produced food. Meals typically include porridge or muesli for breakfast, sandwiches for lunch, a warm dinner and snacks. The food is mainly vegetarian, with some game and fish; we can provide vegetarian, vegan or other dietary options on request.
Reviews
WildNet.Earth Review Policy
Each rating result ranges from 1 to 10. The overall rating for a course is calculated by adding up all the ratings submitted and dividing them by the number of ratings. We use a weighted system: more recent ratings have a greater influence on the overall result.
Participants can also submit sub-ratings for important course areas – such as organizer communication, course management, content & learning progress, procedure & implementation, venue, catering, and accommodation. Sub-ratings and overall ratings are assigned independently of each other and are not necessarily directly related.
Participants can submit a review if they have taken part in a course via WildNet.Earth – even if they have not completed the course in full. In addition, participants can verify themselves and also write reviews even if they have not booked via WildNet.Earth. Changes to reviews that have already been submitted can only be made via WildNet customer service.
To prevent bias, WildNet.Earth uses processes that identify fake or unreliable reviews. Such content will be deleted and measures may be taken against those responsible. Suspicious posts can be reported to customer service by anyone at any time.
