About this Course

Climate Alert is a four-day nature immersion for adults aged 18 and over who want to understand climate change through practical outdoor learning. Based in the forested hills of Chum Kiri, the program connects climate science with local environmental challenges and possible solutions. Participants camp together, learn through guided sessions and group responsibilities, and explore how they can contribute to climate resilience in their own communities.

Structure

The program begins with departure from the YEP Academy Office in Phnom Penh, travel to Chum Kiri, and camp setup. The first evening includes dinner, shared group responsibilities, and an introduction to the program.

The following days combine breakfast and morning check-ins with facilitated input sessions, meals, group responsibilities, reflection, and time in nature. The final day includes a camp reflection session, camp clean-up, and the journey back to Phnom Penh. A mandatory online preparation meeting takes place about one week before the program.


Prerequisites

Participants must be at least 18 years old, have basic fitness, and feel comfortable spending full days outdoors. Curiosity about climate change, sustainable development, and environmental topics is part of the entry profile.

No prior outdoor experience is required. Participants should be willing to take part in the full journey, shared camp responsibilities, group learning, and outdoor setting.


Packing List

Bring personal snacks, a reusable water bottle, individual toiletries, and any personal medication you need. Pack clothing suitable for spending full days outdoors, practical footwear, rain protection, and other seasonal essentials.
