Forum Notifications | Help for Email Settings

What forum notifications are for

Forum notifications send you email updates about new posts, comments, and direct replies in groups you can access. You can choose the broad types of emails you want to receive and then fine-tune individual groups or categories.

Global email settings

The global switches decide whether you generally receive emails for new posts, comments, and group joins. When a global switch is disabled, matching emails are not sent, even if individual groups or categories are enabled.

Groups and categories

The forum groups section lists groups where you are a member or have access through your team. A group switch enables or disables notifications for the whole group. If categories exist, you can also disable individual categories. When the group is disabled, category settings are not applied separately.

Post subscriptions

On individual posts, you can subscribe to all new comments. This subscription applies only to that post and can notify you about comments even when you are not the post author. You receive these emails only while you are allowed to view the post.

Direct replies and your own posts

When someone replies to your comment or comments on your post, that is treated as a direct notification. These emails follow the global comment switch, so important replies stay visible without requiring you to subscribe to every group individually.

Visibility and membership

Notification settings only apply to groups and posts you can access. If you leave a group or lose access to a post, no new emails are sent for that area.
