About this Course
Join us for a women’s\* deep nature connection weekend! *\*We refer to “women” in as many ways as they want to define themselves. Individuals who identify as trans, gender-neutral, or non-binary are welcome to attend.* Learn some of the core routines of a nature connection practice in the company of experienced teachers and like-minded women. Share stories around a blazing fire, wander the land looking for signs of wildlife, interpret the language of the birds, and deepen your awareness of the natural world. Please note that this class has a Spring *and* a Fall session. **Each session is different and they are designed to complement one another.**

This hands-on weekend will cover a variety of topics:
- Harvest wild greens to make a healing tincture and discover common plants that can be used for basic first aid.
- Learn to safely use an axe, hatchet, and knife to make fires at home or in the woods.
- Experience moving through the forest with senses other than your eyes.
- Walk the land with wild women who can show you animal tracks and signs, interpret the calls of the birds, and identify edibles.
- Learn to make pine needle baskets and other optional crafts that use pine needles while gathering around the fire.

Wilderness Awareness School
For 40 years, Wilderness Awareness School has been an internationally-recognized leader in the nature connection movement. Based outside of Seattle in the foothills of the Cascades, Wilderness Awareness School runs intensives and weekend programs for adults as well as summer, monthly, and weekly programs for children. Using the 8-shields model, the curriculum is comprised of survival skills, bird language, community leadership, wildlife tracking, "Coyote Mentoring," naturalist studies, and more. Wilderness Awareness School is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization.
