Trekking & Crafting Journey

Experience the Norwegian Mountains with our 6-day program adjacent to the stunning Jotunheimen National Park area. This program is for those who want to connect deeper with nature, learn new skills and crafts, and experience the beauty of Norway in a simple and natural way.

We meet up at DNT Gjendesheim mountain hut where we can land and relax the first evening. This is also our ending point. Here you are right at the starting point of the famous and beautiful Besseggen Ridge hike, not part of this journey but ideal to do before or after individually (most hiked track in Scandinavia). Our program starts with hiking every morning until lunchtime. We will explore a less touristic and travelled rugged landscape of the Norwegian Mountains and cross over the tree-line multiple times. You will learn how to navigate with maps and compasses and find your way through the terrain.

Afternoons will be spent crafting with natural materials that we find or that come from the area. Crafting is a beautiful way for deepening your connection with nature. Through your senses and your hands you will experience different materials and get to know their innate qualities. Crafting and looking for materials will open your eyes to your surrounding and change your view on the natural world. During this week we will craft practical tools that we need during our time out there as well as beautiful little souvenirs.

Crafting You will have the opportunity to make for example a knife handle from antler, sew a leather pouch, make cordage, and more. Crafting projects are taught in a way that is suitable for beginners.

Camping Throughout the program, you will sleep under a tarp & mosquito net, that you can borrow from us (or you bring your own trekking tent).  We will camp at beautiful spots along our hiking trail near lakes or creeks.

Board Dinner and breakfast are included in the price, while lunch and snacks are individual. We will eat mostly ecological and we will have some regional specialities for you. Expect simple outdoor suitable food. At day 3 we have a resupply point (food cache) so we do not have to carry all the food with us for the entire hike.

Group & Guidance We will move together as a group, adapting the rhythm to the participants’ needs, weather conditions, and terrain. The focus is not to go fast and far but to reach a deeper connection and appreciation of nature as well as connecting to each other.

• crafting with natural materials such as wood, antler, sinew
• Optional bonus: fishing for trout
